If you are graduating this coming November in the Albert Halls, Stirling, this is what you need to do on the day.
The Albert Halls, Allan Park South Church Hall and the Episcopalian Church Hall are all located on Dumbarton Road, Stirling, FK8 2ET.
Locate Dumbarton Road on streetmap.co.uk |
The Allan Park South Church Hall (opposite the Tourist Information Board) will be used by Ede & Ravenscroft Robe Hire and Tempest Photographers. You should go to this hall first to collect your academic dress. You should then make your way to the Episcopalian Church Hall (not the Albert Halls) where the student marshals are located and where the student procession will begin. To locate this hall you must walk past the Albert Halls and turn into your right. Student marshals will line up the student procession, give instructions and assist the procession into the Albert Halls 20 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.
We would also advise you to pre-arrange a meeting point for you and your family and friends. Ideally this should be outside the Albert Halls and away from the entrance to the building. This area gets very congested so please make your meeting point somewhere that does not prevent others from exiting the building. We would appreciate your help with this.
Handbags etc should be left with parents or friends. Please do not leave personal belongings in the halls since their security cannot be guaranteed. The marshals will not be able to look after students' belongings.
All graduands must be fully robed and in line 1 hour before the start of the ceremony.
Please remain seated until the Chancellor's procession enters, then rise with the rest of the audience and remain standing until the Chancellor invites you to be seated.
At the point when degrees are to be awarded, the marshals will ask the first graduands to take up a position in single file in the aisle. On the marshals' instructions you should walk, as your name is called, to be presented to the Chancellor who will cap each student in turn. You will then move on, in front of the Chancellor to shake hands with the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, then to the table where you will receive your certificate from the University Secretary. You must then return to your original seat, following direction from the marshals.
At the close of the ceremony the assembly will rise and remain standing as the academic procession make their way down the aisle. The graduates, on the instructions of the marshals, will then process out of the halls. You will return to the main entrance where you disperse.
After the ceremony ends please make your way to the Graduation Reception. Please retain your ticket as you will need it to gain access to the reception.
